March Mudness Midterm Stress Relief Event

Last night the UMass Society of Women Engineers hosted a March Mudness Midterm stress relief event! The girls painted ceramic pots, planted succulents, and ate pudding dirt cups! It was a great way to step away from studying, socialize with other students, and de-stress! sWe had a blast! 

Region F Conference at West Point, NY

This past week UMass SWE headed to West Point, NY for the Region F Conference! At the conference, the girls were able to meet other SWE members from other colleges, attend workshops and talks, network with professionals and attend the career fair! It was a fun filled weekend and sWe were happy to be a part of it! 

Valentine's Day Stress Relief Event!

This past week UMass SWE had their first stress relief event of the semester! Members decorated heart shaped sugar cookies and crafted cards for More Love Letters. The cards and letters will be shipped around the country to those in need of some love and encouragement! Thank you to all that participated! We wish you all a very SWEet Valentines Day!

SWE hosts lunch with Verizon!

On Tuesday February 2, 2016 UMass SWE hosted a lunch with Verizon. UMass alumnus Jay Latorre, BS '07 CSE, and alumna Kelly Kennedy, BS '15 EE, spent the afternoon having lunch with our SWE members. This lunch gave the girls the opportunity to learn about life after graduation, network with professionals, and learn about possible employment opportunities at Verizon!

SWE members enjoyed hearing from UMass alum over pizza and salad. 

Thank you Verizon for spending your afternoon at UMass. SWE really appreciate it!

SWE Girl Scout Day! Light up jewelry!

On Saturday January 30, 2016 UMass Amherst SWE hosted Girl Scouts from local troops to introduce them to engineering. The Girl Scouts spent the day being engineers! Our SWE members taught them how to solder, and code light up earrings and necklaces.

The Girl Scouts were taught how to code using Arduino Software. They programmed their jewelry to light up in different colors and patterns!
