Girl Scout Day

SWE members assisted local girl scout troops on building resourceful battery operated cars...but they really did not need that much help. Maybe we just got a smarty-pants group of girl scouts, but after organizing this event, SWE members believe the future is looking bright for women engineers.
(Above) Girl scouts fuel up and get their brain food.
Designers flocked to the materials' desk, gathering supplies for their cars.
Back to the drawing board!

A battle for the best gears commences!

Some girls got festive.
Designers hard at work assembling the wheels.
All eyes on them! The girls celebrate their working car by decorating themselves as well.
Some mothers get in on the action.

Sweet, sweet success.

Members of SWE gathered for the General Body Meeting this past Wednesday to recap their successful year by running activities such as Girl Scout Day and organizing an inspirational talk with women in the nuclear engineering field. They went over great volunteer opportunities for students to tutor young girls, as well as made plans for the rest of the semester which will include another Girl Scout Day featuring solar panel cars. Then they all participated in a little "March Mudness," a much needed destresser.
The president and vice president join in on the fun (above).
Some girls decided to get right to planting.
Others showed off their artistic abilities and crafted beautiful designs (these are some of my favorites) (above and below).

It was great to get together and SWE is excited to continue their great work through the rest of the semester.

Girl Scout Day

SWE members taught girl scouts how to solder, build circuits, and code this past weekend, helping to strengthen girls' interests in engineering... and it was a ton of fun.
